This mini-book is full of interesting pages with pockets and pop-ups which are straightforward to make and really effective. The book itself is made using black card and then decorated using the Nature Sketchbook papers from Graphic 45. Of course you can use these techniques to make a book using any papers. The book construction is a concertina spine - but more of that in a later video - first a couple of pages. Today we are going to look at making a page which opens 'gatefold' style but has a card and pocket mechanism for keeping it closed - I call it a 'locking' pocket (though it's not really locked!). I also included on the video the 'how to' for a pop-up 3D page.<br />
<br />
The first couple of pages look like this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The video is below... but I am having trouble getting it to work with Blogger - so you may have to go to my YouTube channel <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxIZyqj1PTqmnVGndfDrAfg" target="_blank">here.</a><br />

I'll have more pop-ups and pockets featuring in next month's video - plus how to make the book - stay tuned!<br />

The theme here is very definitely 'sunflowers'! I loved the sunflowers on the August Children's Hour papers the minute I saw them and knew that I would have to do some fussy cutting!!<br />
To make this tag you'll need the two Children's Hour papers for August, some thick string or rolled up paper, dark brown card, light brown or terracotta card, green ink and co-ordinating ribbon.<br />
<br />
As usual I started with a 4"x8" tag - but this time I used dark brown card,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G2t3Z_E0ET4/V8dBFOUJmhI/AAAAAAAABzc/KHH2BQM9shAcWKE-03wn7oIZ54jcmOdxACLcB/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G2t3Z_E0ET4/V8dBFOUJmhI/AAAAAAAABzc/KHH2BQM9shAcWKE-03wn7oIZ54jcmOdxACLcB/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
To make flower stalks I coloured some paper strings with green distress stain and left them to dry...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f2QmqzvmFx4/V8dBBfeS-dI/AAAAAAAABzQ/Bi169NJWM_E5BrA6NZ9C_362-gX_UNKjACEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f2QmqzvmFx4/V8dBBfeS-dI/AAAAAAAABzQ/Bi169NJWM_E5BrA6NZ9C_362-gX_UNKjACEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Next I cut the girl with cat card from the August Collective paper and centred it on the card towards the top. I glued the stalks on and surrounded with foam pads.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1OP-VrTmjpw/V8dBJ2P3aHI/AAAAAAAABzs/PmKaWGME2cIPl7xsZ118b5Rhe5YV95kBACEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25287%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1OP-VrTmjpw/V8dBJ2P3aHI/AAAAAAAABzs/PmKaWGME2cIPl7xsZ118b5Rhe5YV95kBACEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25287%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
Then I cut the terracotta coloured card to make pots and pot rims - starting with rectangles then cutting them down by eye into flowerpot shapes and inked the edges...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mIfpUczG5O4/V8dBF5R0WEI/AAAAAAAABzg/6AMq2Oy3Fzwj1XsNEJA8voa_fzVC6kNpgCEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mIfpUczG5O4/V8dBF5R0WEI/AAAAAAAABzg/6AMq2Oy3Fzwj1XsNEJA8voa_fzVC6kNpgCEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d-oQ7ocSRkc/V8dBGr-CUOI/AAAAAAAABzk/kjJPlQmtDYUh_v-iNtGuAZibM_9M9SNWQCEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d-oQ7ocSRkc/V8dBGr-CUOI/AAAAAAAABzk/kjJPlQmtDYUh_v-iNtGuAZibM_9M9SNWQCEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25285%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I stuck these to the bottom of my tag on the foam pads and covering the ends of the stalks...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Mqzq83AOTw/V8dBKbfBPlI/AAAAAAAABzw/OLRi13MEmZcIA_h3pCKm61hNzMx-YS_TwCEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25288%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Mqzq83AOTw/V8dBKbfBPlI/AAAAAAAABzw/OLRi13MEmZcIA_h3pCKm61hNzMx-YS_TwCEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25288%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
Time to sit down with some good scissors, a film you enjoy and the August Montage paper and cut a load of sunflowers out...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XwEzVmk65LI/V8dBLM_cHNI/AAAAAAAABz0/KqP70q4HuA8pYA8ZoXxNoaFNdN2NI6t5wCEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25289%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XwEzVmk65LI/V8dBLM_cHNI/AAAAAAAABz0/KqP70q4HuA8pYA8ZoXxNoaFNdN2NI6t5wCEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25289%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
I also cut out lots of the little blue flowers and leaves.</div>
<div>
I added the sunflowers to the top of the stalks... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3EbtZ3LaY6Y/V8dBCWfBJwI/AAAAAAAABzU/nPYJGPzVaa0GtflVAF7K923xTlK-mwh8wCEw/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%252810%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3EbtZ3LaY6Y/V8dBCWfBJwI/AAAAAAAABzU/nPYJGPzVaa0GtflVAF7K923xTlK-mwh8wCEw/s320/august%2Btag%2B%252810%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
and glued the blue flowers and leaves to the top of the middle flowerpot...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqarDQQXlpM/V8dDN_t0QJI/AAAAAAAABz8/Q_863a_Zo8MN4ccU2IqqfyWxc4OGXp7XQCLcB/s1600/august%2Btag%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqarDQQXlpM/V8dDN_t0QJI/AAAAAAAABz8/Q_863a_Zo8MN4ccU2IqqfyWxc4OGXp7XQCLcB/s320/august%2Btag%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Finally some co-ordinating ribbon through a punched hole in the top and the tag is done!</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">For this month's tag we go to the beach - literally, since I added sand and shells </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I found on the beach when I was on holiday on the Isle of Eriska!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">To make this tag you will need the July collective and July Montage papers, a 4" x 8" tag, shells and sand, some co-ordinating ribbon, foam pads and pva glue.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Start by covering your tag with paper from the July Montage as shown...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PZ6Lg_CkVvg/V5zjgw8qgyI/AAAAAAAABy0/F1lmNw8xqRgBagogJtkoAhE2JIaeGCHRQCEw/s1600/julytag%2B%25282%2529%2B-%2BCopy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PZ6Lg_CkVvg/V5zjgw8qgyI/AAAAAAAABy0/F1lmNw8xqRgBagogJtkoAhE2JIaeGCHRQCEw/s320/julytag%2B%25282%2529%2B-%2BCopy.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">From elsewhere on the July Montage paper cut out the children so that you can add them to the tag with foam pads to create a decoupage 3D effect...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Add a piece of driftwood to the bottom of the tag and start to attach shells using strong glue (like hot glue or glossy accents)...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Mix your sand with some pva glue until it is a thick paste then spread the glue-sand mixture over the bottom of the tag... I also cut out a couple of pictures of other children from the July collective papers and added them at this stage...</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Finally cut out some of the poppies to add to the top of the tag and staple on some co-ordinating ribbon...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--1Kl0J52KZ4/V5zq01H5ACI/AAAAAAAABzA/XUeIueKba30xLVN56JDonfjgs6kkvbkiwCLcB/s1600/julytag%252811%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--1Kl0J52KZ4/V5zq01H5ACI/AAAAAAAABzA/XUeIueKba30xLVN56JDonfjgs6kkvbkiwCLcB/s320/julytag%252811%2529.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">And you have a tag which is a lovely reminder of a day at the beach.</span></div>

Here it is...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5kLTczYo_5g/V3WKgYg3gfI/AAAAAAAABxE/8oQ6ahdROUkobdqFuB3ZLz6bWnj3TmF8wCLcB/s1600/IMG_0887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5kLTczYo_5g/V3WKgYg3gfI/AAAAAAAABxE/8oQ6ahdROUkobdqFuB3ZLz6bWnj3TmF8wCLcB/s320/IMG_0887.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
As usual you will need the two Graphic 45 Children's Hour papers for this month and a 4" x 8" tag made from any cardstock. You will also need: some florists' wire, green card, co-ordinating ribbons, a piece of thick card or chipboard and a leaf/frond punch.<br />
<br />
Start by colouring the florist wire green - I used distress ink..,.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UWjGdGN5Low/V3WKYSrnRnI/AAAAAAAABxU/TLzCv1RVe6gg3BMl66y-h9fxVFXzhzL3ACKgB/s1600/IMG_0873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UWjGdGN5Low/V3WKYSrnRnI/AAAAAAAABxU/TLzCv1RVe6gg3BMl66y-h9fxVFXzhzL3ACKgB/s320/IMG_0873.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Set the wire aside to dry and begin covering your tag. I covered the whole tag with paper from the bottom left of the June montage paper - I drew round the tag then cut it out and stuck the paper on...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QqlY2vBcxwo/V3WKYQS8njI/AAAAAAAABxU/uEg_kOLtheYI693LYOEke4RL7XDiD7Q-QCKgB/s1600/IMG_0874.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QqlY2vBcxwo/V3WKYQS8njI/AAAAAAAABxU/uEg_kOLtheYI693LYOEke4RL7XDiD7Q-QCKgB/s320/IMG_0874.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I then inked the edges of the tag and stuck a piece of thick card to the right hand side of the tag to raise up the panel I planned on sticking on (you could just use foam pads but I find this method quicker!)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HnY_dWEkpEY/V3WKbIzl-9I/AAAAAAAABxU/HI_vaHuSkzsZzXe_t3Hj5NQ5mBBCDxRYwCKgB/s1600/IMG_0877.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HnY_dWEkpEY/V3WKbIzl-9I/AAAAAAAABxU/HI_vaHuSkzsZzXe_t3Hj5NQ5mBBCDxRYwCKgB/s320/IMG_0877.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I cut the panel from the June Collective paper (cutting round the flowers) I stuck it on to green card to give a thin border and add strength... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_KR2kVfmw2Q/V3WKYoLNZAI/AAAAAAAABxU/24dIdrWE_aA8mSpXp4n4BfAK_UjckenNwCKgB/s1600/IMG_0875.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_KR2kVfmw2Q/V3WKYoLNZAI/AAAAAAAABxU/24dIdrWE_aA8mSpXp4n4BfAK_UjckenNwCKgB/s320/IMG_0875.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I cut the border round the panel - I also cut the 'Oh what a beautiful day' sentiment and the little girl holding a bouquet (also from the Collective paper)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3rloyNLbkhw/V3WKZ4QdJDI/AAAAAAAABxU/jJhVA__wZ_4em6gH3FR-j96kzOtmmEQkACKgB/s1600/IMG_0876.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3rloyNLbkhw/V3WKZ4QdJDI/AAAAAAAABxU/jJhVA__wZ_4em6gH3FR-j96kzOtmmEQkACKgB/s320/IMG_0876.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I added the panel and the sentiment to my tag...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acnWnKhwIiA/V3WKbKa_w8I/AAAAAAAABxU/4JFDLGDKs_guO5maGWbwEcWtIzglzHR0QCKgB/s1600/IMG_0878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acnWnKhwIiA/V3WKbKa_w8I/AAAAAAAABxU/4JFDLGDKs_guO5maGWbwEcWtIzglzHR0QCKgB/s320/IMG_0878.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I used hot glue to attach the green wires to the bottom left of my tag...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QlN2sapjulQ/V3WKbuXHQKI/AAAAAAAABxU/H_6B_mnpAcMXrN-cTZKIAydQ8GHyjl-dACKgB/s1600/IMG_0879.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QlN2sapjulQ/V3WKbuXHQKI/AAAAAAAABxU/H_6B_mnpAcMXrN-cTZKIAydQ8GHyjl-dACKgB/s320/IMG_0879.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then hid this by sticking the bouquet holding girl over it... I then watched some TV and cut out a load of flowers and leaves and punched some fronds using my Martha Stewart frond punch...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LDZ5oO8G_wM/V3WKdmI2s6I/AAAAAAAABxU/3aB34fCsbWoENanG3X8kNZDU3M-TPXtawCKgB/s1600/IMG_0880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LDZ5oO8G_wM/V3WKdmI2s6I/AAAAAAAABxU/3aB34fCsbWoENanG3X8kNZDU3M-TPXtawCKgB/s320/IMG_0880.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stuck the flowers and leaves onto my tag - some to the wires with my hot glue gun (though glossy accents also works well for this) and some to the tag using foam pads...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpW4obbmLUs/V3WKdip5XUI/AAAAAAAABxU/EC1rVhJRz7QLjoo0d0CsW_3SZG2WkqtGACKgB/s1600/IMG_0881.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpW4obbmLUs/V3WKdip5XUI/AAAAAAAABxU/EC1rVhJRz7QLjoo0d0CsW_3SZG2WkqtGACKgB/s320/IMG_0881.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some close ups...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zAP7emKXQ2c/V3WKd3bCxnI/AAAAAAAABxU/YbzQMqSYlvQOi3m5Hym0KDXjrac0RBImgCKgB/s1600/IMG_0882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zAP7emKXQ2c/V3WKd3bCxnI/AAAAAAAABxU/YbzQMqSYlvQOi3m5Hym0KDXjrac0RBImgCKgB/s320/IMG_0882.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I punched a hole and added my ribbons and the tag was done!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you give this a go - It's my favourite tag so far.</div>

<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ne97CYvR1Qc/V0tpTh6GnAI/AAAAAAAABvw/rtfDgUcbsGAa6NPHGze18h0vPh-rm4HnwCLcB/s1600/IMG_0886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ne97CYvR1Qc/V0tpTh6GnAI/AAAAAAAABvw/rtfDgUcbsGAa6NPHGze18h0vPh-rm4HnwCLcB/s400/IMG_0886.JPG" width="280" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello again to those who are following this series of tag tutorials. For the May tag you will need the two May Children's Hour papers, a 4" x 8" tag, some white card, foam pads, co-ordinating ribbon, a piece of floral wire and a thin skewer or similar stick to wind the wire round.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As usual I started by looking at the papers and cutting out the images I wanted to use on the tag - it should be noted that I didn't end up using all the bits I'd cut out and did cut out more butterflies and the boy looking out of the window (with the window) later on! The pic of the woman with all the children is the larger version in the frame from the May Collective sheet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mlZGeDgS8k4/V0tffuvSgZI/AAAAAAAABuc/Bxup-Ikdcs4NPtItfIZV56_PXXbBaF-KQCLcB/s1600/IMG_0855%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mlZGeDgS8k4/V0tffuvSgZI/AAAAAAAABuc/Bxup-Ikdcs4NPtItfIZV56_PXXbBaF-KQCLcB/s320/IMG_0855%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Taking my inspiration from the boy looking out of the window I then cut out a white window frame, 11cm x 14cm with a 1.5cm thick frame...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hJLA1WzpuAI/V0tffS59E3I/AAAAAAAABvc/JDLbhGuQEAIkVSVDzWWmTFsabKBS3LDsQCKgB/s1600/IMG_0856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hJLA1WzpuAI/V0tffS59E3I/AAAAAAAABvc/JDLbhGuQEAIkVSVDzWWmTFsabKBS3LDsQCKgB/s320/IMG_0856.JPG" width="262" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut two strips 13cm x 2cm to make the window sill and trimmed them as shown in the photos below...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mGS-uy0zbLs/V0tffehQljI/AAAAAAAABvc/BaBNUT6ooYgIkn5dvi7vzJoh0OC-30T6wCKgB/s1600/IMG_0857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mGS-uy0zbLs/V0tffehQljI/AAAAAAAABvc/BaBNUT6ooYgIkn5dvi7vzJoh0OC-30T6wCKgB/s320/IMG_0857.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XM5W0m1kE1k/V0tfhAh_jnI/AAAAAAAABvc/lVJyqrkeJr8jB0sLoy_bxU8CTQVUAtlvACKgB/s1600/IMG_0859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XM5W0m1kE1k/V0tfhAh_jnI/AAAAAAAABvc/lVJyqrkeJr8jB0sLoy_bxU8CTQVUAtlvACKgB/s320/IMG_0859.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to start adding things to the tag. I cut out some of the pink paper (leaving the strip on because I knew the frame would cover it)...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U64HVlSnu9Y/V0tfiXPAb3I/AAAAAAAABvc/SPkQ8BdjbJYIPha2wnIM9z9IEORPden1ACKgB/s1600/IMG_0860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U64HVlSnu9Y/V0tfiXPAb3I/AAAAAAAABvc/SPkQ8BdjbJYIPha2wnIM9z9IEORPden1ACKgB/s320/IMG_0860.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I checked the frame would fit over the top...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T5dpjdykaC8/V0tfiS9kHbI/AAAAAAAABvc/cTzVROCYui4FvO0Vy7OCa6dwCWafdR6NACKgB/s1600/IMG_0861.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T5dpjdykaC8/V0tfiS9kHbI/AAAAAAAABvc/cTzVROCYui4FvO0Vy7OCa6dwCWafdR6NACKgB/s320/IMG_0861.JPG" width="202" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then added the brown spotted paper as though this was the house wall...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iP3z292Gnd0/V0tfjersKrI/AAAAAAAABvc/URx_D6Jp7pseRfHfLdPinLy7AB3PPsbJwCKgB/s1600/IMG_0862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iP3z292Gnd0/V0tfjersKrI/AAAAAAAABvc/URx_D6Jp7pseRfHfLdPinLy7AB3PPsbJwCKgB/s320/IMG_0862.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I added the frame (with inked edges now) using foam pads...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0iyrBSwrNFA/V0tfkkurfDI/AAAAAAAABvc/6HAa6TXr4_sBqB3SCQ89NOXYg3AMGvRQgCKgB/s1600/IMG_0863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0iyrBSwrNFA/V0tfkkurfDI/AAAAAAAABvc/6HAa6TXr4_sBqB3SCQ89NOXYg3AMGvRQgCKgB/s320/IMG_0863.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then added another sill on top... more foam pads...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gAnPNe7fSis/V0tfkqp0L-I/AAAAAAAABvc/onm3RTuYAMEA9-fE04Ql9YzsBusBAkPpgCKgB/s1600/IMG_0864.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gAnPNe7fSis/V0tfkqp0L-I/AAAAAAAABvc/onm3RTuYAMEA9-fE04Ql9YzsBusBAkPpgCKgB/s320/IMG_0864.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wXrOBZpovNg/V0tflRsZFDI/AAAAAAAABvc/c202Sy99wMYnhfZLn46KLbyEoKKPNaHFQCKgB/s1600/IMG_0865.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wXrOBZpovNg/V0tflRsZFDI/AAAAAAAABvc/c202Sy99wMYnhfZLn46KLbyEoKKPNaHFQCKgB/s320/IMG_0865.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I started to stick the cut out people into my window...(notice the boy looking out of the window in the background!) Have a play around with the placement before you start gluing down!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RE2HEsi_W1s/V0tfmqcL8BI/AAAAAAAABvc/RukHEYZZG007J7E_kMVBp8GWgi4TZcnngCKgB/s1600/IMG_0866.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RE2HEsi_W1s/V0tfmqcL8BI/AAAAAAAABvc/RukHEYZZG007J7E_kMVBp8GWgi4TZcnngCKgB/s320/IMG_0866.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to decorate outside the window. I added the groups of cut out flowers and the birds nest (and bird!)...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DNx73xhxaw0/V0tfmZB5KTI/AAAAAAAABvc/Nx6RL1BwKTk-uovFoQaI4bZfeRELy2MagCKgB/s1600/IMG_0867.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DNx73xhxaw0/V0tfmZB5KTI/AAAAAAAABvc/Nx6RL1BwKTk-uovFoQaI4bZfeRELy2MagCKgB/s320/IMG_0867.JPG" width="247" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I added the quote at the bottom and I decided I needed to make my window look more frame-like so I added thin strips of card vertically and horizontally like bars on the window - it would have been easier to do this earlier!!...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0iOtzmDA9rk/V0tfm8DZo2I/AAAAAAAABvc/AH_sWuHaSy0EqrSYWyQ8LTaRbtd1Qx1-QCKgB/s1600/IMG_0868.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0iOtzmDA9rk/V0tfm8DZo2I/AAAAAAAABvc/AH_sWuHaSy0EqrSYWyQ8LTaRbtd1Qx1-QCKgB/s320/IMG_0868.JPG" width="251" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I wanted to add the butterflies and make it look like they were flying - so I used a florist wire...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sLFlpcugybs/V0tfnUMrgOI/AAAAAAAABvc/dnU03MtyJGoVSXXzPYT9DXFr6ADO9ZTmACKgB/s1600/IMG_0869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sLFlpcugybs/V0tfnUMrgOI/AAAAAAAABvc/dnU03MtyJGoVSXXzPYT9DXFr6ADO9ZTmACKgB/s320/IMG_0869.JPG" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wrapped round a skewer to give it a curl...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5Ku9xzopGOE/V0tfpKHqO9I/AAAAAAAABvk/w8le0QVAvJQz_mL1WcLJsKJj4Ba49agYACKgB/s1600/IMG_0870.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5Ku9xzopGOE/V0tfpKHqO9I/AAAAAAAABvk/w8le0QVAvJQz_mL1WcLJsKJj4Ba49agYACKgB/s320/IMG_0870.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then bent the end over to give more surface to glue the butterfly to...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added my butterflies to the tag and added some ribbons...</div>

I know its 1st May, but if it had been 31st April my tag post wouldn't be late!! What with the ATDML retreat, my trip to India then being off at school camp I haven't been home much in April so I'm a bit behind. April this year (for me at least) has been a bizarre combination of bright sunshine and 40degree heat and then lately...snow! But April is best known for April showers so my April tag had to feature an umbrella. I call this tag 'showers and flowers'...the little boy and some flower fairies are taking shelter from the seasonal rain amongst the spring flowers...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-mxigWUR2E/VyZa4EyA0tI/AAAAAAAABr8/E3Uo0sQ6ixUwnYjwdYrS__QbU_H0S7OKQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-mxigWUR2E/VyZa4EyA0tI/AAAAAAAABr8/E3Uo0sQ6ixUwnYjwdYrS__QbU_H0S7OKQCLcB/s320/IMG_3093.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As usual I started with a 4" x 8" plain card tag, and the two sheets of Graphic 45 Children's Hour papers for the current month. You'll also need a scrap of yellow card, a wooden skewer, 4" of lace and some co-ordinating ribbon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first stage for me was the fussy cutting. I cut out the little boy (getting rid of the bouquet he is holding), some daffodils and crocuses, the orangey coloured flower with the face in the centre and one of each of the flower fairies from the April Montage. Then I cut the 'April Showers' the 5" orange decorative piece and the green strip with the poem on from the 'April Collective' paper. Once that was done I could begin decorating the tag... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Add blue striped paper to the top of the paper so that it looks like rain...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pu2NIxLOVY0/VyZdNW47gmI/AAAAAAAABsI/6q9uuHgybf8M3ei04vMcBxGHj3JqqLwtwCLcB/s1600/IMG_3069.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pu2NIxLOVY0/VyZdNW47gmI/AAAAAAAABsI/6q9uuHgybf8M3ei04vMcBxGHj3JqqLwtwCLcB/s320/IMG_3069.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Make the umbrella - I found a glass that was almost as wide as the tag and drew round it on yellow card. Then I folded it to make 8 sections. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-67eUnBDqsr8/VyZdj5KVWwI/AAAAAAAABsQ/4kAoP9ZU9zIzslBUNrzeFS6cj-hSOG8aACLcB/s1600/IMG_3070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-67eUnBDqsr8/VyZdj5KVWwI/AAAAAAAABsQ/4kAoP9ZU9zIzslBUNrzeFS6cj-hSOG8aACLcB/s320/IMG_3070.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--jryTeI8dfA/VyZdjlruuwI/AAAAAAAABsM/1XAE20wuwGwB2JYh3u8kvT9RiPAaOQXQQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--jryTeI8dfA/VyZdjlruuwI/AAAAAAAABsM/1XAE20wuwGwB2JYh3u8kvT9RiPAaOQXQQCLcB/s320/IMG_3071.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
3.I cut the curve off each section to make it into an octagon. Next I cut out 3 whole sections or triangles and part of a section to leave 4 sections and a 'tab'...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-PwaTLICrc/VyZd86Fi2XI/AAAAAAAABsc/HwBe046wRsENl3GXGyqevaFXCRWjnhxAgCLcB/s1600/IMG_3075.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-PwaTLICrc/VyZd86Fi2XI/AAAAAAAABsc/HwBe046wRsENl3GXGyqevaFXCRWjnhxAgCLcB/s320/IMG_3075.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. I then folded over part of the triangle on the opposite side to where the tab was (you can see the crease in the top triangle on the picture below)...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DLUrf3Xl1E/VyZd10ziprI/AAAAAAAABsY/VJMa6el0EfIPlKDwAApI-SPUTsT0fbAyQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DLUrf3Xl1E/VyZd10ziprI/AAAAAAAABsY/VJMa6el0EfIPlKDwAApI-SPUTsT0fbAyQCKgB/s320/IMG_3076.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. I attached the half umbrella using this small triangle - DO NOT STICK DOWN THE OTHER TAB!...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SBKGCr36gtc/VyZfJtsIu1I/AAAAAAAABss/7I2jqGBUK5cybT2q8nnLTBKyFV_LXwTBQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SBKGCr36gtc/VyZfJtsIu1I/AAAAAAAABss/7I2jqGBUK5cybT2q8nnLTBKyFV_LXwTBQCLcB/s320/IMG_3077.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BRdicOTGGXA/VyZfKsgAzaI/AAAAAAAABs0/2CbvSGkGB0gk8oRqmv0T2MK89RbiRTTrgCLcB/s1600/IMG_3078.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BRdicOTGGXA/VyZfKsgAzaI/AAAAAAAABs0/2CbvSGkGB0gk8oRqmv0T2MK89RbiRTTrgCLcB/s320/IMG_3078.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
(so the right hand side is not stuck down - this allows you to make this a tab that enables you to fold the umbrella flat)</div>
<div>
6. I made a scrap paper template then used it to cut a piece of the green paper to fill the tag below the umbrella (the rain has to stop at the umbrella!!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VW5HdIQzAuo/VyZfKNhZmZI/AAAAAAAABsw/-g7Fp8WSrq0ZmyiaqIfanqmx_Q4vsbT4QCKgB/s1600/IMG_3079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VW5HdIQzAuo/VyZfKNhZmZI/AAAAAAAABsw/-g7Fp8WSrq0ZmyiaqIfanqmx_Q4vsbT4QCKgB/s320/IMG_3079.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. When I glued it on I did not glue over the right hand tab but instead left it like a pocket so that the tab can slide in and out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. I used one of the discarded triangles from earlier to cut out some random triangles from the Montage paper - I trimmed them a little smaller then added them to the inside and outside of the umbrella - inking all my edges...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d-ryZZUoZ-8/VyZgCpbKECI/AAAAAAAABs4/rCTu1v6-E78M_k5OZQPmBRmXv_pQHyE8ACLcB/s1600/IMG_3080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d-ryZZUoZ-8/VyZgCpbKECI/AAAAAAAABs4/rCTu1v6-E78M_k5OZQPmBRmXv_pQHyE8ACLcB/s320/IMG_3080.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ECypqCH6oo/VyZgED_ACgI/AAAAAAAABs8/pXYrm8Nbw1kkHgj3rY85gf55beX6dmR_wCLcB/s1600/IMG_3081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ECypqCH6oo/VyZgED_ACgI/AAAAAAAABs8/pXYrm8Nbw1kkHgj3rY85gf55beX6dmR_wCLcB/s320/IMG_3081.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9. I stuck the little boy on with double thickness of foam pads - I positioned him so that his hand could be holding the umbrella...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FhnIazRAWAE/VyZgEUjKe8I/AAAAAAAABtA/BV23sS9wge0kKkT5ilQbC3Ffxgq8ly0hgCLcB/s1600/IMG_3083.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FhnIazRAWAE/VyZgEUjKe8I/AAAAAAAABtA/BV23sS9wge0kKkT5ilQbC3Ffxgq8ly0hgCLcB/s320/IMG_3083.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
10. I added the orange strip and the April showers strip on foam pads...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LJVRYaWpMjQ/VyZgFUl7w3I/AAAAAAAABtE/XUXm5qxJeuseoRsWK_z4S5deLOyq2cJDwCLcB/s1600/IMG_3084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LJVRYaWpMjQ/VyZgFUl7w3I/AAAAAAAABtE/XUXm5qxJeuseoRsWK_z4S5deLOyq2cJDwCLcB/s320/IMG_3084.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
11. Next I added, the orange flower to look like a sun, and started to stick on flower fairies and cut out flowers...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l22BAuMp6j8/VyZgGnh-ueI/AAAAAAAABtI/hi0nyXZLXAowINyHVqWS8aeVErSccrOuwCLcB/s1600/IMG_3085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l22BAuMp6j8/VyZgGnh-ueI/AAAAAAAABtI/hi0nyXZLXAowINyHVqWS8aeVErSccrOuwCLcB/s320/IMG_3085.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-24eUcKkOvg0/VyZhxaSOV9I/AAAAAAAABtc/UJ8EKE15-7UOSsWdfOdHNg1aqGtN1-BBwCLcB/s1600/IMG_3086.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-24eUcKkOvg0/VyZhxaSOV9I/AAAAAAAABtc/UJ8EKE15-7UOSsWdfOdHNg1aqGtN1-BBwCLcB/s320/IMG_3086.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
12. I cut down a wooden skewer to make an umbrella handle and stuck it on with glossy accents...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mY3pK23JZ94/VyZhw4lzCVI/AAAAAAAABtU/VKsvCfoz3OUFCYLT1pHzEPBMKQqYtViaQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mY3pK23JZ94/VyZhw4lzCVI/AAAAAAAABtU/VKsvCfoz3OUFCYLT1pHzEPBMKQqYtViaQCKgB/s320/IMG_3087.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
13. I cut up and inked the poem strips and added them on foam pads...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ulN8Wk3mWl8/VyZhw9r0uGI/AAAAAAAABtY/uKv81yfOxRUGJwxBcVNH56YEd1LXZe8zQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ulN8Wk3mWl8/VyZhw9r0uGI/AAAAAAAABtY/uKv81yfOxRUGJwxBcVNH56YEd1LXZe8zQCKgB/s320/IMG_3088.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
14. I added some lace to the edges of the umbrella...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hweddtbqkrg/VyZhxi3cFZI/AAAAAAAABtg/suJn4OfuBioUF5cRZPdMJEdHzTO_PxRXQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hweddtbqkrg/VyZhxi3cFZI/AAAAAAAABtg/suJn4OfuBioUF5cRZPdMJEdHzTO_PxRXQCKgB/s320/IMG_3089.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
15. I finished off my tag by adding some ribbon...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9oEUh218QI0/VyZhx4Fr6CI/AAAAAAAABts/U_U8cyQ4lhULaTzPUDRS1IfhZtMWnGGJQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3090.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9oEUh218QI0/VyZhx4Fr6CI/AAAAAAAABts/U_U8cyQ4lhULaTzPUDRS1IfhZtMWnGGJQCKgB/s320/IMG_3090.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C3hRo1RApNI/VyZhyH93aWI/AAAAAAAABts/RF4FStMFW8YbV10sHLj9Hu1vGfb03YeawCKgB/s1600/IMG_3091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C3hRo1RApNI/VyZhyH93aWI/AAAAAAAABts/RF4FStMFW8YbV10sHLj9Hu1vGfb03YeawCKgB/s320/IMG_3091.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
You can see here how the tab pulls out in case you want to fold the umbrella flat (eg. if you are putting it in a book or sending it somewhere by post!)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_JSn_Xt8vOI/VyZkEzGZHCI/AAAAAAAABuE/Uv2fK1LlzxUweU3wnW8uWQ6hkuBHY3hRQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_JSn_Xt8vOI/VyZkEzGZHCI/AAAAAAAABuE/Uv2fK1LlzxUweU3wnW8uWQ6hkuBHY3hRQCLcB/s320/IMG_3094.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hope you liked this tag - back soon with my offering for May.</div>

ATDML virtual crop coming up ...two retreat classes under construction and now a tag ...that's four lots of Graphic 45 loveliness for you all!! As before the tag uses the two pages from the Children's Hour collection that are dedicated to the current month...March. As before the tag is a 4" x 8" piece of card with the top corners chopped off and the bottom corners rounded...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JE91c01luB8/VunC-ck5nSI/AAAAAAAABpo/Rjhl-OjnUhkx7qu5Nty01Qk4RpghQj__w/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JE91c01luB8/VunC-ck5nSI/AAAAAAAABpo/Rjhl-OjnUhkx7qu5Nty01Qk4RpghQj__w/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B2.jpg" width="170" /></a></div>
<div>
In addition to this I used some white card, dusty concord distress ink and some co-ordinating ribbon.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I started by covering the whole tag with the purple paper (choosing a bit that didn't mean I lost features on the other side that I might later want. I inked the edges with the purple distress ink and also inked a bit near the top of the tag which I knew would be behind and above my decoration...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GZyv11UGadA/VunDz1OlthI/AAAAAAAABpw/sVyPI9-9qbkJCjNUM6RCHq8elRoXhGkWA/s1600/IMG_0444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GZyv11UGadA/VunDz1OlthI/AAAAAAAABpw/sVyPI9-9qbkJCjNUM6RCHq8elRoXhGkWA/s320/IMG_0444.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next I cut out the green strip which features small white flowers and glued this vertically to the left hand side of the tag...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EPQXWCuhY_A/VunEEYLgvyI/AAAAAAAABp0/39LEkXQaeYguO0b_0Q7pdwnrzjCUeXxeA/s1600/IMG_0445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EPQXWCuhY_A/VunEEYLgvyI/AAAAAAAABp0/39LEkXQaeYguO0b_0Q7pdwnrzjCUeXxeA/s320/IMG_0445.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
I used a spellbinders die to cut out a white scalloped circle - you could cut this freehand, use a plain circle, a doily or whatever you like. I damaged my die cut getting it out of the die, but I knew that part would be hidden so I didn't worry too much...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KyNlr7bfrmw/VunEdCH-yaI/AAAAAAAABp4/ZHiK_HY9S7ATbeg3AHASN0F7h5NIxYw_Q/s1600/IMG_0446.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KyNlr7bfrmw/VunEdCH-yaI/AAAAAAAABp4/ZHiK_HY9S7ATbeg3AHASN0F7h5NIxYw_Q/s320/IMG_0446.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
Next I cut the boy and girl out from the postcard paper and glued them onto the circle...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w5uox8XRI7Y/VunErnHDUoI/AAAAAAAABp8/tkjrKLjQGHcNbXMs5VoSUWVzCaZydhbsQ/s1600/IMG_0447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w5uox8XRI7Y/VunErnHDUoI/AAAAAAAABp8/tkjrKLjQGHcNbXMs5VoSUWVzCaZydhbsQ/s320/IMG_0447.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
I then spent some time cutting out other elements that I wanted to add - more of the pansies, the 'Hello spring' banner. I started to add more flowers round the children, using foam pads to raise them up... note that I crinkled the 'hello' banner a little to give it some dimension. I later decided to add a bit of the purple clover strip beneath it (you might want to add this first!!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9nP8Lxt8Hxg/VunFMUOCmrI/AAAAAAAABqA/J-TSRhKVNfQS0ZpHyLPTwhT4QgNb7xX2A/s1600/IMG_0449.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9nP8Lxt8Hxg/VunFMUOCmrI/AAAAAAAABqA/J-TSRhKVNfQS0ZpHyLPTwhT4QgNb7xX2A/s320/IMG_0449.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
...I lifted the 'hello' banner and added the purple strip, added even more flowers on foam pads, added a couple of the cut out little birds and then tied on some green, purple, yellow and white ribbon...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bPCG_cn3A8o/VunOMRIDonI/AAAAAAAABq4/uCq7Mr02UHI26aoye9r9NgfnbQaKBdwkw/s1600/IMG_0450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bPCG_cn3A8o/VunOMRIDonI/AAAAAAAABq4/uCq7Mr02UHI26aoye9r9NgfnbQaKBdwkw/s320/IMG_0450.JPG" width="186" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course you could stop here, but I decided it still wasn't quite finished so I got out my leaf frond and butterfly punches and added some butterflies and leaves to give an even more 'spring-like' feel to the tag. Here are some close-ups and the finished tag...</div>

<br />
Finally add another piece of black ribbon through the hole in the tag for the finished tag...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kz3iZDMTRbc/Vq_c-9P4YNI/AAAAAAAABoc/Cy7A7X1Fwew/s1600/Febtag%2B%25288%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kz3iZDMTRbc/Vq_c-9P4YNI/AAAAAAAABoc/Cy7A7X1Fwew/s640/Febtag%2B%25288%2529.JPG" width="432" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Hello again - I'm back with a video tutorial for making a really simple mini book using envelopes. This really is a super easy book to make - you could churn out a fully decorated version in an hour.<br />
You will need: 8 envelopes, Papers from the Mon Amour collection from Graphic 45 (if you want to copy mine exactly!) some paper flowers, co-ordinating ribbon and black card.<br />
<br />
If you have the whole Mon Amour collection - you'll have papers left over from making the book - I used mine to decorate a blank wooden box inside and out...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCUER6wHqkI/VrZVwAeiWEI/AAAAAAAABpQ/xKUK0CM1zw0/s1600/IMG_0371.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCUER6wHqkI/VrZVwAeiWEI/AAAAAAAABpQ/xKUK0CM1zw0/s320/IMG_0371.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Here's the video... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fvfppQcyoJs/0.jpg" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fvfppQcyoJs?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

I will be using Children's Hour from Graphic 45which features two 12"x12" sheets for each month. The usual rich colours of Graphic 45 each with seasonal elements. <br />
The January papers look like this...and can be found <a href="http://www.atripdownmemorylane.co.uk/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=Children%27s+Hour&osCsid=b16f9096670dce8945110190cc2acbf9&x=0&y=0" target="_blank">here</a> on the website.<br />
<br />

<br />
And here is this month's tag... This could be used as a card, a piece of home décor or attached to a layout...<br />

<br />
<br />
If you want to play along this month you will need:<br />
<ul>
<li>Children's Hour January papers</li>
<li>White paint</li>
<li>Acetate</li>
<li>White card to punch snowflakes</li>
<li>White and blue ribbon</li>
<li>Diamond stickles</li>
<li>Gems</li>
<li>Foam pads</li>
</ul>
<br />
You will also need to make yourself some tags for each month - I cut mine from Kraft card 4" x 8" (or 10cm x 20cm) with the corners cut off. You could use any colour of tag because the background won't show.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yCgg6fJ7eRw/VqU_KA7WL3I/AAAAAAAABmM/-EaGoc7BDYk/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yCgg6fJ7eRw/VqU_KA7WL3I/AAAAAAAABmM/-EaGoc7BDYk/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B2.jpg" width="170" /></a></div>
<br />
I started by covering the tag with the light blue patterned side of the paper and then used a little white paint applied with a foam pad to edge the tag...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wr9RsZcqWtM/VqU_KBep9VI/AAAAAAAABmc/rbZRnPDZWWo/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wr9RsZcqWtM/VqU_KBep9VI/AAAAAAAABmc/rbZRnPDZWWo/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B3.jpg" width="173" /></a></div>
<br />
I cut out one of the pictures of the mother reading to her child & the flowers to add later. Next I cut a piece of the blue patterned paper (darker side) 3" wide by 4" high, edged with white paint and fixed this towards the top of the tag...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rY3ceUA3LBg/VqU_KY_B-rI/AAAAAAAABm0/osdT3WYLxW8/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rY3ceUA3LBg/VqU_KY_B-rI/AAAAAAAABm0/osdT3WYLxW8/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B4.jpg" width="173" /></a></div>
<br />
I cut a piece of acetate 3.5" x 5", rounded the top corners and edged with white paint before fixing over the dark blue panel with foam pads, adding some punched snowflakes...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RNo2jzHcMRQ/VqU_KlAGW9I/AAAAAAAABnA/GZyW7_JDSyI/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RNo2jzHcMRQ/VqU_KlAGW9I/AAAAAAAABnA/GZyW7_JDSyI/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B5.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
Next I fixed on the cut out elements, using foam pads to help them stand out a little...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-00PuK_jOpwI/VqU_Kig_EkI/AAAAAAAABms/OSjpOtF8me4/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-00PuK_jOpwI/VqU_Kig_EkI/AAAAAAAABms/OSjpOtF8me4/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B6.jpg" width="171" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I added the small dark blue snowflake strip, a small length of white lace underneath and one of the postage stamps...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gz29udBDoig/VqU_LWT28tI/AAAAAAAABnE/awfZKgu5Bu8/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gz29udBDoig/VqU_LWT28tI/AAAAAAAABnE/awfZKgu5Bu8/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B7.jpg" width="205" /></a></div>
<br />
After that I fixed the Let it snow banner on top of the snowflake strip, I distressed and stuck the small blue quote on, tucking it behind the woman and the yellow flower...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RkYGbBryV-g/VqVBXCok5zI/AAAAAAAABnM/VCEWR9WjjNU/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RkYGbBryV-g/VqVBXCok5zI/AAAAAAAABnM/VCEWR9WjjNU/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B10.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
To decorate further, I put on more cut out flowers - I put all of these elements on foam pads to add to the 3D feel...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A6M1gD9QxPw/VqU_LXbzAuI/AAAAAAAABm4/dz3dTUIQaJ4/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A6M1gD9QxPw/VqU_LXbzAuI/AAAAAAAABm4/dz3dTUIQaJ4/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B8.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally - I stuck gems in the centre of snowflakes and decorated the snowflakes and the edges of the acetate with diamond stickles. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O7mMBaVJaGo/VqU_LjHn8TI/AAAAAAAABm8/bkZ5sAVDqTk/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O7mMBaVJaGo/VqU_LjHn8TI/AAAAAAAABm8/bkZ5sAVDqTk/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B9.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>
White and blue ribbon threaded through the top of the tag finished it off...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O0eaWxdbgj4/VqU_KJJPZBI/AAAAAAAABmg/lsMk4oHk3YM/s1600/Tag%2BJan%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O0eaWxdbgj4/VqU_KJJPZBI/AAAAAAAABmg/lsMk4oHk3YM/s320/Tag%2BJan%2B1.jpg" width="216" /></a></div>
See you in February for another tag!<br />

My first one uses the Botanical Tea paper collection which I love - it has such a great colour palette. I spied this abandoned bird table in the school garden...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1wxmRqGSutM/Uz2sSHS6-YI/AAAAAAAABSg/BNSD6ATNfwk/s1600/IMG_6184.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1wxmRqGSutM/Uz2sSHS6-YI/AAAAAAAABSg/BNSD6ATNfwk/s1600/IMG_6184.JPG" height="400" width="326" /></a></div>
<br />
...so I went to see the teacher who runs the gardening club who told me that it had been donated by another teacher who no longer wanted it and that he had no plans for it either. He said it would most probably be thrown away. <br />
<br />
So...I rescued it and decided to give it the Graphic 45 treatment and turn it into a sort of bird house - complete with nest. <br />
With the addition of some Clematis twigs from my garden, polystyrene balls, florist's wire, wooden dowel, Spanish moss, hot glue, green ink and several hours of fussy cutting...this is what I came up with...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rWeNAVIkXtQ/Uz2sslNl6bI/AAAAAAAABSo/gI3aLp2OH4c/s1600/IMG_6203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rWeNAVIkXtQ/Uz2sslNl6bI/AAAAAAAABSo/gI3aLp2OH4c/s1600/IMG_6203.JPG" height="640" width="504" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and here's the other side...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kk62a3jeeng/Uz2tDpWsvwI/AAAAAAAABSw/CknyWrPD-Ao/s1600/IMG_6216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kk62a3jeeng/Uz2tDpWsvwI/AAAAAAAABSw/CknyWrPD-Ao/s1600/IMG_6216.JPG" height="640" width="520" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I have tons of photos, so rather than put them all on here, I have put them into a video which includes a small amount of info on how some of the different parts were made...enjoy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm thinking of doing a tutorial for how to make the 'aliums' (the ones that look like big lollipops!) - they were great fun to do.<br />
<br />
I hope you liked my project - I'd love a comment if you have time.<br />

<br />
It has been impossible to narrow it down to six projects, so as with last year I am delighted that the brief said 'at least' six projects. I have put pictures of each project below, but alternatively you can watch my 'Graphic 45 TV' video clip which contains all of the pictures below plus some video footage of things like my Mother Goose Carousel (turning and playing music) and the By the Sea pop-up book in operation.<br />
I hope you like looking my projects as much as I have enjoyed making them, and... Graphic 45...PLEASE give me a go on your Design Team!?!?!<br />
<br />
Video...<br />

<br />
COUTURE<br />
<br />
To start with, fecturing papers from the Couture collection plus metal door pulls...<br />
My i-pad TV cabinet - I made this from 6mm mdf and then painted it black before covering with Couture papers. The drawer handles are meant to be old fashioned tv tuning knobs ...My i-pad slips in on the left hand side and then it actually works as a tv!<br />

<br />
<br />
MOTHER GOOSE<br />
My carousel, made from scratch with foamboard, a music box mechanism that plays 'Twinkle, Twinkle little star' and a lazy Susan to assist rotation...and lots of the Mother Goose characters on board.<br />

Today is my newest recipe - plucked straight from the internet. I thought the picture on the blog where I saw them looked amazing, but what was even better was that when I followed the recipe, mine turned out looking exactly like the recipe - result! (This almost never happens!)<br />
<br />
In fact you can find the recipe that I used <a href="http://domesticfemme.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/cookie-perfection-chocolate-crinkles.html" target="_blank">here</a> on the 'Domestic Femme' blog. I plan to make lots more with peppermint essence and choc-chips.<br />
<br />
Tonight I'll be flying down to London - I'm looking forward to my weekend away and in particular to going to dinner on Saturday night at 'Dinner' (a Heston Blumenthal restaurant)... will see if I can get some pictures!Jane (J-bug)http://www.blogger.com/profile/05986372568595747083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758191427321625967.post-20536852342927546322013-12-05T14:22:00.001-08:002013-12-05T14:22:43.106-08:00Let it snow!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1J5iNGCPOT0/UqD42kuubdI/AAAAAAAABAo/qeP5lHShI8c/s1600/IMG_5886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1J5iNGCPOT0/UqD42kuubdI/AAAAAAAABAo/qeP5lHShI8c/s400/IMG_5886.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
...and it actually did snow a bit today - though it was totally overshadowed by the high winds which shut the Forth Road Bridge at one point.<br />
<br />
Today's recipe is for baked mini doughnuts (or donuts if you prefer!). I love these because they are so easy to make with no hot oil to worry about. I first made them for my class at school when we were learning about Hanukkah - as doughnuts are typical Hanukkah fare and I thought my class might like these as a treat.<br />
You do need the right baking equipment though - I have a silicone mini doughnut tray which works brilliantly. I think the recipe was attached to the tray when I bought it...<br />
<br />
you need...<br />
1 cup plain flour<br />
1/3 cup sugar<br />
1 teaspoon baking powder<br />
1/4 teaspoon salt<br />
1 tablespoon melted butter<br />
6 tablespoons milk<br />
1 teaspoon vanilla essence<br />
1 beaten egg<br />
cinnamon sugar<br />
<br />
1. Sift all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.<br />
2. In a separate bowl mix together the 'wet' ingredients then whisk into the dry ingredients.<br />
3. Butter a mini doughnut tray then 1/2 fill each 'well'.<br />
4. Bake for 5 - 10 minutes at 180degrees C until golden.<br />
5. Remove from tray and roll in cinnamon sugar while still warm.<br />
6. Eat immediately!!!!Jane (J-bug)http://www.blogger.com/profile/05986372568595747083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758191427321625967.post-29116975476492561232013-12-04T13:22:00.001-08:002013-12-04T13:22:37.494-08:00May the fourth be with you!Happy December 4th and it's a double whammy from me today because I also appear on the ATDML blog today - well my advent project does - as it is ATDMLs offering for the UKScrappers Christmas Blog Hop - you can find it <a href="http://createdbyatdml.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/uks-christmas-blog-hop-day-2.html#comment-form" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-veGrDRHjx50/Up-c_ZQk2uI/AAAAAAAABAY/2CHvcpsEjlM/s1600/IMG_5883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-veGrDRHjx50/Up-c_ZQk2uI/AAAAAAAABAY/2CHvcpsEjlM/s320/IMG_5883.JPG" width="304" /></a></div>
<br />
So today it's one of Jonathan's favourites - my festive sausage rolls - and they are so easy to make.<br />
You need some puff pastry (I love the ready made and ready rolled sheets - so easy!); some sausage meat (I use really good sausages, like the Tesco Finest ones and take the skins off); you need a pack of stuffing mix (good old Paxo will do fine!); and finally some beaten egg.<br />
Make up the stuffing mix and let it cool then lay out the pastry and put a line of sausage meat along the middle, flatten it out a bit and top it with a line of stuffing. Roll up the pastry then cut into smaller sausage rolls (or leave it big if you like!). Brush with beaten egg then bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.<br />
Enjoy!Jane (J-bug)http://www.blogger.com/profile/05986372568595747083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758191427321625967.post-29017325054224396752013-12-03T23:04:00.001-08:002013-12-03T23:04:57.373-08:00chestnuts roasting by an open fire...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vnv-V3_FicM/Up7T9adDMaI/AAAAAAAABAI/zaBGCIOcDoc/s1600/IMG_5882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vnv-V3_FicM/Up7T9adDMaI/AAAAAAAABAI/zaBGCIOcDoc/s320/IMG_5882.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
Day three on my Kitchen countdown is very simply... roasted chestnuts. It just would not be Christmas without them (though strictly speaking I don't need a recipe for these!!). I very simply prick each chestnut and then pop them in a hot oven for just a few minutes. If you don't prick them then you risk exploding chestnuts decorating the inside of your oven!<br />
I remember my mum making these when I was little - and being allowed a sip of sherry along with them. I perhaps have a little more than a sip these days - but 'just the one'!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kbU7xA-ylps/UpzJrIp5usI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/Z22j1MPf-Kw/s1600/IMG_8578.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kbU7xA-ylps/UpzJrIp5usI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/Z22j1MPf-Kw/s320/IMG_8578.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
When I lived in Hong Kong, one happy memory was buying chestnuts from the street vendors, they were stirred with spades in giant woks containing rocks with sugar thrown in to give them a caramelised flavour. They were the most delicious chestnuts in the world!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
When we were in Rome in October this year it was wonderful to see the decorated vendors carts selling enormous roast chestnuts...not cheap at 5 euros a cone - but it didn't stop me buying them!<br />

<br />
2nd December on my Kitchen Countdown is a picture and recipe for the most delicious hot chocolate which for me is an important ingredient in Christmas celebrations. <br />
<br />
I make my hot chocolate with whole milk and Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate - stirred together and heated the old fashioned way in a pan is best - though I do often resort to the microwave! Add mini marshmallows, top with whipped cream and either a dusting of drinking chocolate or crumbled Flake. Sometimes a candy cane to stir the mixture instead of a spoon is the order of the day, giving a 'pepperminty' flavour to the hot chocolate. I have had all sorts of expensive hot chocolate concoctions - but for me this is still the best.<br />
<br />
Watching a Christmas film with the fire on, candles lit and a big mug of creamy hot chocolate is my idea of Christmas heaven. So apart from stocking up on all the ingredients for hot chocolate I thought I'd better audit my Christmas DVD collection. Here are my top 10 Christmassy films... (I have a whole other list of favourite films - but these are specifically the Christmas themed ones)<br />
<br />
1. Scrooged<br />
2. Home Alone 1<br />
3. The Grinch (with Jim Carrey - probably the only film I like him in!)<br />
4. Elf - so bad, it's good!<br />
5. The Polar Express - I have to have a hot chocolate with this one!<br />
6. The Snowman/ The Snowman & Snowdog (makes me cry!)<br />
7. The Muppets Christmas Carol <br />
8. Miracle on 34th Street (the newer version with Attenborough)<br />
9. Home Alone 2 <br />
10. It's a Wonderful Life or White Christmas (I'm undecided!!)<br />
<br />
I'd love to hear about your favourite 'Christmas' films and your ideas for hot chocolate recipes.Jane (J-bug)http://www.blogger.com/profile/05986372568595747083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758191427321625967.post-17248705637578030942013-12-01T11:06:00.003-08:002013-12-01T11:06:36.420-08:00Happy AdventWelcome December! This is such a busy time of the year for crafters - making cards, handmade gifts, decorations for the house - this alongside everything that everyone else is trying to do too - buying presents, getting our homes ready for Christmas, going to parties and Christmas events (and trying not to think about those resolutions looming in January!).<br />
Last year I was totally not ready for Christmas - my cards never got posted and there was a lot of last minute panic! This year I resolved to be more prepared. To that end I have already made good headway into hampers packed full of homemade jams, shortbread and Christmas fayre and yesterday I finished my Christmas planner and completed a four stage Tesco online food ordering process. Store-cupboard staples arrive this week, frozen foods and larder items next week, then fresh foods/vegetables etc. the week after and then the turkey and other short shelf life fresh items such as fresh cream, milk, bread will hopefully arrive on 23rd December. It feels good to have all this in hand - although a little ridiculous since we live within walking distance of a 24hour Tescos which will only be closed on Christmas Day. However - I loathe visiting the supermarket at Christmas time - they are crazy places packed with stressed people all panic buying.<br />
<br />
I love my new planner which I hope will be useful for many Christmasses to come - My goal is to share both my planner and my Christmas Kitchen Countdown here and to see how much I can blog about them both in December. Of course thanks to having to do a class for the ATDML retreat at the end of October, my Advent calendar is already made...<br />

<strong>Christmas Planner</strong><br />
I made this with a wooden blank book I'd had in my stash for a while and a set of Simple Stories Christmas papers from 2011 which I loved and wanted to do something special with. I added extra pages made from Kraft cardstock. Here is the outside to whet your appetite...more to follow as Advent unfolds.<br />

<br />
<br />
<strong>Christmas Kitchen Countdown</strong><br />
I actually made this about 4 years ago - but without any photos. I do a lot of cooking and baking over the Christmas period and to me food and drink are really important aspects of the season. Some things I make year after year and I am always trying to remember which cookbook or website the recipes come from - I decided that a calendar of sorts for the kitchen which featured the recipes I would be using would be a perfect addition to my Christmas kitchen. I made the calendar from an 8"x8" paper pack I was given as a gift - (I think it may have been DCWV - but I'm not sure). The numbers are cut on the Cricut and the whole thing is held together with book rings and is hanging on a 7 Gypsies book stand.<br />
My plan is to share each page and each recipe with you - pre Christmas stress permitting. Since I am still recovering from a virus that has wiped me out for the past 3 or 4 weeks it may be a big ask! The first page is a picture of last year's Christmas gift cakes...sorry no recipe with this one, since by 1st December my Christmas cakes have long since been made and are currently being 'fed' with brandy before being decorated.<br />

Straight away it made me think of a fairground or gypsy caravan. I decided to make Madame Macabre's gypsy caravan. I used a piece of foamboard for the base of the caravan and 4 empty 'East of India' ribbon reels for the wheels which I attached on wooden dowel axles. The rest was constructed with thick black card and the Steampunk Spells papers (though the green paper on the front of the caravan is from last year's G45 Halloween collection). So without further ado, welcome to Madam Macabre's gypsy caravan, let her read your fortune in her tarot cards, or perhaps sell you a love potion...<br />

<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">This is the first in a series of articles and project ideas that I have been asked to write for the 'A trip down memory lane' blog...<a href="http://createdbyatdml.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>.</span><br />
<br />
I thought I would share it on my own blog too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">Anyone who knows me or has been in one of my classes probably knows that Graphic 45 is my favourite paper manufacturer; yet I am very aware that there are many people, who, while they like the papers, choose not to use them because they find them a bit daunting and just don’t know what to do with them.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">When I look at images of Graphic 45 projects online I am constantly reminded that I am in no way an expert – there are some amazing paper-crafters out there using Graphic 45 to produce stunning work. I am just someone who loves Graphic 45 paper and I want to share my passion for the papers and try and inspire others to overcome their ‘fears’ and give it a go.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">I would like to present to you a series of Graphic 45 articles with hints and tips for using Graphic 45 papers and products, spotlights on particular paper releases, skills that suit the Graphic 45 papers and project ideas to use with the latest Graphic 45 ranges.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></span><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">One of the best sources of inspiration for using Graphic 45 papers is the Graphic 45 blog which can be found <a href="http://g45papers.typepad.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. They have a very active blog with lots of sneak peeks of new products, giveaways, project tutorials and they also showcase the work of their designers. The projects on display are quite amazing and certainly inspire me to want to give things a go – though I could understand that to look at the designers’ work can be a little daunting and many beginner (or even intermediate) crafters might think ‘I’ll never be able to do that so why even try!’. Don’t lose heart – the projects you do with Graphic 45 don’t have to be all singing and dancing and in this vein my first article title is ‘conquer your fear’! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"><strong><u>Conquer your fear</u></strong> <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">To start with, you need to get over your fear of Graphic 45 and just start to use it as you would any other papers. Ask yourself – what are you afraid of? Is it that you don’t want to cut into the paper in the first place? Are you worried that you won’t like your end result? Is it the cost of the paper? Well, I feel like that with lots of papers but actually Graphic 45 is no different so I say – just go for it! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">My advice for this would be if you are nervous - avoid the ‘title’ papers. As beautiful as they are, they need a bit more thinking about so you’re better off with a selection of patterns from the collection. That way you don’t need to think as much about what you’re going to ‘do’ with them. Next team them with a plain cardstock and for your first foray into Graphic 45 try using the patterns sparingly – keep your layout simple. Lots of the layouts you will see on the Graphic 45 blog are very elaborate, but that’s because the designers are trying to showcase the papers, chipboard shapes, stickers etc. so they try to cram as much product on as they can (and undoubtedly, they do a beautiful job – but it can be a little hard to live up to). So try using a sketch, some plain cardstock and two or three patterned papers which work together. Either cut your title from cardstock or buy some Thickers.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">The next thing to stop being afraid of is trying to make your layout or project fit the theme of the papers – you don’t have to have pictures of the circus to make a layout with Le Cirque papers or photos of antiques to be able to use Olde Curiosity Shoppe!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Ridiculous; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span></div>

This project is reminiscent of the ABC Primer book project bound with coloured pencils that I did for one of the ATDML retreats. This time, my stab binding is done with chopsticks to fit the theme of the Birdsong papers.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I learned the hard way that you can't upload anything longer than 15 minutes to YouTube, so here is my video tutorial in two parts...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Part 1 is a 'how to' for the basic book and binding...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

If you want to see more of my decorated book - check out part 2 of the tutorial...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
One thing I forgot to say on the video is to give credit to Helen who showed me how to make the flowers a few years back when I first bought the Stampin' Up! scalloped circle punch. Thanks Helen!<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy my videos!<br />

It had to be something very simple because I was thinking so much about the filming that I needed to know that I could do the project in my sleep. So I filmed a simple 'squash book' tutorial. I've made these loads of times with the children at school in Papercraft club so I knew it would be ok for a tutorial. The filming wasn't great - I used my I-phone balanced on top of a lamp and, because I can't see what the camera is seeing, a few times my project disappears out of shot. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get better with practise!<br />
Anyway - I hope you like it...<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9kakG0EmTU/UdCTZv_s-7I/AAAAAAAAA34/cIrDB921Txw/s1600/IMG_5690.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9kakG0EmTU/UdCTZv_s-7I/AAAAAAAAA34/cIrDB921Txw/s320/IMG_5690.JPG" width="315" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had also bought some great little envelopes when I was at a paper shop down in Washington - so with the addition of 5 sheets of red card and some woodgrain embossed cream card I made a set of 20 little cards. I have left off the sentiments for now so that when I need a card I can just add the appropriate sentiment with a stamp, stickers or some rub-ons, In the paper pack there were 10 sheets of paper (2 of each design) and 4 sheets of die cuts. I managed to make 2 of each design of card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here they are...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-833MvIVvQvI/UdCUlnVFJpI/AAAAAAAAA4I/FtxGpw7z1C8/s1600/IMG_5710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="190" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-833MvIVvQvI/UdCUlnVFJpI/AAAAAAAAA4I/FtxGpw7z1C8/s400/IMG_5710.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And each one, close up...</div>

<br />
Hopefully I will soon be able to show you my Graphic 45 vintage television i-pad stand - all of the woodwork part is done - just decoration to go! Tune in again soon!<br />
Thanks for looking!<br />
