Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

I can't believe it's a year since I applied for this in 2013 but I'm going for it again!!

It has been impossible to narrow it down to six projects, so as with last year I am delighted that the brief said 'at least' six projects. I have put pictures of each project below, but alternatively you can watch my 'Graphic 45 TV' video clip which contains all of the pictures below plus some video footage of things like my Mother Goose Carousel (turning and playing music) and the By the Sea pop-up book in operation.
I hope you like looking my projects as much as I have enjoyed making them, and... Graphic 45...PLEASE give me a go on your Design Team!?!?!

Video...

COUTURE

To start with, fecturing papers from the Couture collection plus metal door pulls...
My i-pad TV cabinet - I made this from 6mm mdf and then painted it black before covering with Couture papers. The drawer handles are meant to be old fashioned tv tuning knobs ...My i-pad slips in on the left hand side and then it actually works as a tv!

MOTHER GOOSE
My carousel, made from scratch with foamboard, a music box mechanism that plays 'Twinkle, Twinkle little star' and a lazy Susan to assist rotation...and lots of the Mother Goose characters on board.

My altered book - a fairy tale castle with Mother Goose accents...

TYPOGRAPHY
Altered writing desk... I fixed up this writing slope from E-bay which was falling appart - and gave it the Graphic 45 treatment.

J is for Jane...

Altered clipboard/planner...my class at A Trip Down Memory Lane's Autumn retreat 2013

BY THE SEA
A pop-up book of my New England holiday a little while back complete with a handmade driftwood shadow box front containing sticks, stones and shells from Maine...

STEAMPUNK SPELLS
Madame Macabre's gypsy caravan, more information about this on my blog here...

Steampunk birthday card...

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
Tower of gift boxes

BIRDSONG
A set of altered drawers for keeping different flavoured tea-bags...

My Dad's 75th birthday card

My Chopstick bound book - a tutorial for which can be found here.

BOHEMIAN BAZAAR
A layout using these bright papers - a tutorial for this layout can be found on my blog here...

GOOD OL' SPORT
Sports clubhouse made from a dolls house kit called 'The Retreat' from the Dolls House Emporium and decorated to be a vintage clubhouse / cricket or tennis pavilion...

SECRET GARDEN
Cards...

Pop-up garden in a book...

Mini-book in an altered box...

COUTURE again
My altered glittered wine bottle...

Thank you to anyone who has made it to the end of this blog post! I would love to read your feedback on my Graphic 45 projects, so please leave me a comment...

  4. Having had the chance to take a couple of your ATDML retreat classes I've been lucky enough to see some of these projects "up close and personal" and they are stunning - your attention to detail is amazing! The patience you show in cutting out flower after flower and layer after layer shows how much thought you put into your projects, and I'm blown away by them. The "Mother Goose" carousel and the "Couture" tv cabinet are so cleverly thought out and so well constructed - and the "Birdsong" chopstick book looks so complicated but your video tutorial makes me think even I could manage that - altho its not going to look anywhere near as professional as yours does!

Thank you for your fab ideas Jane, I'm so looking forward to seeing what you (and Graphic 45) next come up with!

  5. I took your class making the clipboard, it was fabulous, and the resulting clipboard is still going strong and much admired. Other classes of yours have always come with very clearly explained instructions and pictures, easy to follow and allowing me to produce great quality craft items, keep up the good work. Graphic 45; you need this very talented lady.

  6. Jane, these projects are awesome, you are so talented, love them all. My special favourite is the Mother Goose altered book, such a simple idea carried out beautifully, love the rolled page turret and all the decorations and figures. this would be magical for a child as would all of your creations, even if they weren't allowed to touch them.

  9. Amazing creativity and versatility. The gypsy caravan caught my attention a while back (was it not featured on the G45 blog?), and after stumbling on your Youtube channel today I had to go in search of your blog. Not only is your work inspirational but you appear to be a talented, supportive edcator, too. I hope the stars align for you because you and G45 seem perfectly matched. Good luck!

  14. Jane, as always I am blown away by your creativity. We are incredibly lucky to have such a talented design team and with your specialism in creating with Graphic 45 you are an integral part of the team. All those Graphic 45 retreat classes you have taught for us have really helped with product sales too - I think part of the success is that you take papers which many customers find beautiful but daunting and show them how to get the very best out of them so that they too can make spectacular altered items, layouts, cards and books. A big thank you from A Trip Down Memory Lane and good luck, Graphic 45 would be very lucky to have you! Mel xx

  15. hi Jane, you are such a talented lady, and you cost me a fortune! You make me want to play with papers!! I've been in your classes, and been lucky enough to know first hand how simple and clear you make the instructions - but its way more than that - you inspire me to want to try papers i would normally pass over. I don't pass on them because I don't like them, but I cant imagine how to use them....then you come along and open all these doors in my mind i didnt even know where there....
thank you for sharing, you are an inspiration!

    all the best, Fabiana x
